76ers State of Affairs (December)

76ers State of Affairs (December)

The beginning of the 2006 Sixers campaign appeared to hint at a playoff season.

But after starting 3-0 for the first time since the 2000-01 season, the 76ers have lost four straight and 11 of 13.

"That year ended with an Eastern Conference title for Philadelphia. This one might land them in the lottery."

Here's what the confused and troubled Iverson had to say about it:

"I don't have any answers for what's going on,'' Iverson said. "We're not having no fun out there on the basketball court. That has a lot to do with losing.''

Coach Maurice also added, "this is not the way it was supposed to be, it's not what I envisioned. Our effort on the floor tonight wasn't good enough. We're still searching for an answer.''

I PRAY they find the answer.

In the meantime, yall can vote on the poll on the right of the website. Leave a comment letting me know what you foresee in the 76ers future.

Despite Iverson, Bosh & Raptors Overcome

Imagine going a whole season without making a three pointer!! That's exactly what Chris Bosh did last year so he worked on his long range game over the summer and it paid off.

Bosh made a go-ahead three with 6.1 seconds left and finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds, leading the Toronto Raptors to a 106-104 victory over the Philly 76ers.

"It was an emergency situation,'' Bosh said, laughing. "Desperate times call for desperate measures. I was just trying to score. That's why I had the ball. I've been working on that and I've been thinking about that all year, and I didn't want to lose the game.''

A.I. aka Allen Iverson put up 35 points & 10 assists.

"I don't want to say that he just threw it up there because I have seen him make that shot before,'' Iverson said. "It was a good shot and those are the kind of shots you need from your star player to win basketball games.''

Toronto won despite shooting 40 percent. Philadelphia shot 49 percent and actually outrebounded the Raptors 53-45!

"That is the most frustrating part. We shoot 50 percent and they shoot 40 percent. We outrebound them and still lose by two,'' Iverson said. "That's tough and it's hard to say anything negative about us, or our performance, but when it is all said and done they got the win.''

The Sixers got man-handled on the boards, the second time in two games they were outrebounded by 20 or more. The Pacers held a 52-32 rebounding edge on Tuesday.

``You can't teach rebounding,'' Iverson said. ``We're not going to be able to win basketball games if we don't rebound the ball.''

Iverson was also the only player really scoring for the Sixers with 20 points. Kyle Korver and Willie Green each scored 14.

Kyle Korver is blossoming in his increasingly important role on the Philly squad.

Korver rained three's on the Heat and was one of the three 76ers who tallied 20 points.

Allen Iverson scored 31 points and dished 13 assists while Korver scored 13 of his 22 points in the third quarter leading the Sixers to a 107-98 win over the Miami Heat.

Andre Iggy (Iguodala) also dropped 20 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers start 3-0.

``We've got to keep on building on what we've been doing,'' said Korver, who hit 5-of-6 3-pointers. ``We have a long ways to go, but we feel like we're doing OK right now.''

``He has to be that sparkplug off the bench,'' Iverson said. ``We're going to need Kyle to do a lot of things for us throughout the season. It's great how he handled the responsibility of being the sixth man.''
