76ers Slapped with a Loss at Home

The Magic ended their 16 game road losing streak in Philadelphia with a a 102-86 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

Howard had 15 points, 19 boards and four blocks and the reserves scored 50 points for the Magic, who don't seem to experience any of their road woes at the Wachovia Center.

"Just kidding, but I think we need to ask the league if we can switch all of our away games to here," Howard said. "It feels good. I'm happy that we finally got a win. We started a little slow, but we kept playing and that's what we needed."

"The confidence the team's that aren't good have against us is kind of embarrassing," Sixers forward Chris Webber said. "I've been on teams where you've already intimidated them based on what you've done. It's that level of respect. I just felt tonight that Orlando really didn't respect us. They felt that they could do anything to us, and they did."

"I knew that I had to come out and get a presence," Howard said. "I was trying to block shots, trying to rebound, and make A.I. and the other guys take bad shots. It started in the first quarter. You get a couple of blocks, and guys start looking for you. It happened throughout the whole game."

"We needed this one and we didn't get it done," Iverson said. "I struggled on both ends of the court. I just couldn't get in a rhythm out there. I couldn't get anything going. When I struggle the way I did tonight, as a team we're going to obviously struggle."

"I can't say enough good things about our bench," Magic coach Brian Hill said. "I thought they did a great job tonight. Early in the game, we didn't have great energy. Guys like Keyon and Trevor came in and picked up the defensive intensity. We were able to get some turnovers, get out and run, and get some easy baskets. It was the same thing in the second half."

"Their bench is one of the reasons they won the game," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "Those are the guys that came in and hurt us the most. That's the disappointing part that they came in and outworked us."

"After we were down early, coach told us that if we didn't start to play hard, he was going to sit all of us down," Howard said. "So I was going to go out and play hard. That motivated us to play."

"They got whatever they wanted on the court," Iverson said. "They took the ball to the basket and they just played a better game than us. They outplayed us at both sides of the ball. We just got beat up all over the court."

Webber had 23 points and 15 rebounds for the Sixers, who shot just 38 percent (31-of-81).

Iverson Ends Sixers Slide in Return from Injury

Allen Iverson Biography

In Allen Iverson's first game since his injury, the Philadelphia 76ers looked like a new team.

"Iverson had 29 points and 12 assists in his return to the lineup as the 76ers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 115-106 victory over the Hawks."

Kyle Korver put up 23 points and Chris Webber added 21 and 10 boards. The Sixers shot 51 percent (41-of-81) from the field and never trailed as they resumed their push for a postseason berth.

"If I could have, I would have forced myself to come back sooner," Iverson said. "When I got hurt in Memphis and I couldn't come back after halftime, I knew that it was something (bad). I didn't want to go out there and make it worse. The way it feels right now, I don't think that I could have done that. I didn't expect it to be this sore after this game."

"I feel like people have tried to divide us this year, for some reason," Korver said. "Like we don't want to play with Allen, or we get upset when someone shoots shots. Allen provides so much for this team. There is this perception that we don't like playing with him and that's not the case."

"He's our leading scorer for a reason," Iguodala said. "He attacks the other team's defense and creates openings for the other guys. We were able to play as a team tonight."

"It was really tough on us because we did need an extra guard to help play with his type of pace," Hawks forward Al Harrington said. "He was able to break down the defense and get a lot of wide-open jump shots."

"He is the Sixers," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. "As he goes, they go. He puts so much pressure on the defense with his offense. He is relentless. Tonight, I don't think we handled him well off the dribble. He was able to get to where he needed to go create for the other guys."

"I can't figure out how he can miss that many days and play like that," Korver said. "I was sick for two days last week and for three or four days, I couldn't get my rhythm back at all. We played great and we obviously needed him to win tonight."

"I hope that they were glad that I was back," Iverson said. "I hope that I can give them that type of confidence. That is important for my confidence as well, to feel wanted and be able to go out there and make things happen."

"We really wanted this," Webber said. "I'm glad that we came out with a win and that we have AI back."

"When we turned it over early, we were still in the game," Woodson said. "It just caught up with us. Before you know it, we were down by 15 and we just could not recover from that."
