Sixers Waste Iverson's 38 points
Carmelo Anthony supplied the offense and Marcus Camby brought the defense in the final seconds.
"Right now our team is kind of in a good mental state with a win like this; not playing you're A game and coming back," Denver coach George Karl said. "We're going to have to find out how to put some gas in our tanks (against Toronto)."
Iverson dominated the first half with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, leading the Sixers to 54-45 lead at halftime.
Webber and Iverson opened the second half by knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers as the Sixers built a commanding 14-point edge with just 9 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter.
"Yes, that's the way its been," said Iverson, who made 13-of-32 shots. "We played real well for the majority of the game, but collapsed at the wrong time."
"I knew that we were down by 14 points and my team needed me out there," said Anthony, who shot 11-of-20. "Halftime, I told them that it was time for me to wake up and go out there and win the game."
"Every time you're in an NBA game, a team is going to make a run and they're going to make some shots at some point," 76ers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "Early on they missed a lot of shots, which allowed us to get the lead that we had."
"I was trying to set a screen for Andre Miller and just get open," said Anthony, who pulled down 10 rebounds. "I saw the double team coming and I just tried to beat it and go fast to the basket."
"They made shots and then started putting the ball in Carmelo hands, especially when they gave him the ball during the last play of the game where he was able to get a basket," Cheeks said. "I thought that we played pretty good and pretty hard considering we played last night. Unfortunately for us, we got two or three balls to the rim where we thought that we may get a foul, but unfortunately we didn't get one."
Philadelphia had a chance to tie but Camby, who had 14 rebounds, came up with a huge block on Kyle Korver's layup attempt with four seconds remaining and Anthony made two free throws to seal the victory.
"I've never gone through this before," Webber said. "It's a whole new set of experiences for me and it hurts. Something good has to be in store for us. That's all I can hope for because this is really unbelievable."
